Metaverse and New Age Marketing

( Image Courtesy: analyticsindiamag.com) Metaverse has entered the news like a storm, and we are surrounded by new cutting-edge technologies that will enhance our daily life (that’s what they say, at least). Facebook made the next significant step into the metaverse when it became Meta in October, a networked virtual environment for social connection and engagement via the internet and augmented and virtual reality headsets. The term Meta came in science fiction back in 1992 and it is important to understand Metaverse is not related to Facebook, but Facebook is the biggest investor in the metaverse. “The metaverse refers to online experiences that are highly immersive, such as virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and interactive video” (source: -Forbes). So does this mean we have new possibilities in marketing? Yes! Brands may use augmented and virtual reality marketing to create unique experiences, engage customers, and boost conversions. #HelloXUV700

The Mahindra XUV 700 has been a much-anticipated launch ever since the first spy shots went viral on the internet. The competition in this segment is not only fierce but also well established by now. Its rivals, namely the MG Hector Plus, the Hyundai Alcazar and the Tata Safari have already cut a fair share of the market for themselves and disrupting status quo would be an uphill task for Mahindra’s newest addition. In a price and value sensitive market such as India, it is not always the best product that sells the most, but the one that is successful in generating the most hype.  To make sure their latest and greatest is a hit when it comes out, Mahindra has chosen to tease the XUV 700’s key features in a marketing ploy. By teasing features like ‘Auto Booster Headlamps’, ‘Skyroof’ (the largest sunroof in-segment), ‘Personalized Safety Alerts’ and ‘Smart Door Handles’, Mahindra’s social media marketing team came up with the #helloXUV700 campaign to introduce these features in a co...

How Frontline Tick & Spray used Ambient advertising.

An extraordinarily large ‘floor sticker’ on the ground floor of a large shopping mall promotes Frontline Flea & Tick Spray with the slogan “Get them off your dog “. This floor sticker was designed to be viewed from a higher floor, making the customers walking on the ground floor look like fleas that are troubling your dog. Frontline made use of Ambient advertising for this advertisement. Ambient advertising means advertising the product or service on unusual things or in unusual places where no one expects to see an advertisement. Ambient advertising is successful because it has a strong impact on the minds of customers, making it more effective. Ambient advertising is all about imaginativeness. The motive behind ambient advertising is to surprise customers with its position. Instead of using boards to place advertisements, in ambient advertising, the advertisement is placed anywhere. The intention being that the creativity and intelligence of placement and execution ...

Jingoism In Trade

If you search "Jingoism" on Google, it says - "Jingoism is a form of extreme patriotism", or, in simple words, we can say creating warlike foreign policies to hurt your enemy country. Ex-US President Mr. Donald Trump was famous for the Jingoistic approach. A recent example was when he announced many restrictions on the free import of various goods, issuing Visa to foreign nationals and foreign skilled IT professionals seeking employment in the USA. The Indian government is also now using the jingoistic approach by blocking Chinese apps from its huge domestic market to strike back against China amid a tense border standoff. But the question is whether jingoism is good for the long run or not.  Well, that depends on situation but, for all the best deals that we are consuming or using, we are highly dependent on each other. One person can be the best in only one thing. A writer can be best in writing only. A sales agent can be best in selling only. A teacher t...

The Innovation That Saved Millions Of Lives

Volvo proudly says that “few people have saved as many lives as Nils Bohlin. ” Nils Bohlin, a Swedish engineer who worked for Volvo, designed and developed something that saved millions of people’s lives. Bohlin invented the three-point seat belt in 1959, which then got adopted across the motor industry. His cross-strap design made seat belts much easier to use. It is now hard to imagine a car without seatbelts. The Innovation The two-point seat belt was not giving any safety to the passengers. Instead, it left passengers with serious head, chest injuries in a collision. Also, the seat belt was very uncomfortable to wear. Volvo’s president Gunnar Engellau had suffered a tragic personal loss from a road traffic accident, and he insisted to Nils to come up with a better seat belt design. Nils developed The V-shaped three-point seat belt in 1959, and Volvo integrated the new design change in their cars in 1959 after getting a patent for their innovation. But, even with these furth...

User Generated Content

User Generated Content (UGC) marketing is a strategy in which consumers use products or services of an organization and share their experiences through blogs, videos, social media posts, and pictures. The content shows them using, experiencing, or giving a review about that product or service. This marketing strategy works well because prospects find content generated by consumers to be more genuine and honest. Nowadays, many organizations are focusing on UGC marketing strategy because of the following reasons: Organizations save a huge amount of money due to advertising expenditure being minimum. They invest that amount in innovation, and in time bring new or updated products into the market to maintain their competitive edge in the segment.    UGC marketing strategy attracts more customers because the experience that a user shares on social media platforms helps demonstrate how a product or service works in a real-world scenario, in turn generating trust.
